From having the first town in the country to be permanently lit by electric street lighting in 1881 to becoming the capital of cider in the UK and the home of cheddar cheese, the county of Somerset has always had a rich historical heritage. With a varied landscape, ranging from the hills extending across the wilderness of Exmoor, all the way to the breathtakingly coastal views, Somerset has always been an important travelling destination, offering a large number of tourist attractions. Whether visiting one of our castles, getting lost in our local orchards which now produce over 400 different varieties of cider apples or simply having the time of your life at Glastonbury Festival, Somerset is a truly amazing place, catering for all ages and experiences.
